Open Source
Software where anyone can read and use the code for free.
What is Open Source?
Open source software has publicly available code. React, Next.js, Supabase, and Tailwind are all open source. This means they're free to use and have large communities constantly improving them.
Open source doesn't mean unsupported. The biggest open source projects have full-time teams and millions of users. Supabase is open source but also a company with paying customers and dedicated engineers.
In Vibe Coding
Almost everything in your vibe coding stack is open source. React (by Meta), Next.js (by Vercel), Supabase, Tailwind CSS — all free to use. This is why vibe coding is possible: thousands of developers built the tools you're using for free.
Example
For example: Supabase is open source — you can see all its code on GitHub. If Supabase as a company disappeared tomorrow, the code would still exist and someone else could run it. That's the power of open source.
